Product Overview

This dual color PLA filament is produced by co extruding two separately dosed PLA melt streams into one 1.75 mm strand. Both color layers run through the whole spool, so the two tone contrast stays consistent from the first meter to the last and does not fade out like blended gradient products.

It keeps the standard PLA advantages: low warpage, stable extrusion, low odor and easy first layer adhesion. The filament diameter is held at 1.75 mm with a ±0.02 mm tolerance and controlled ovality, and each spool is wound at constant tension to reduce tangling and nozzle clogging during long prints.

Q1: How does two tone co extrusion work?

Q2: Do I need a dual extruder printer for this filament?

A: No. The dual color effect is already built into the filament, so a standard single-extruder FDM printer with a 0.4 mm nozzle is enough. There is no second hotend, mixing nozzle or mid-print swap.

Q3: What print settings do you recommend?

A: Nozzle 200-220°C, bed 50-60°C, print speed 40-80 mm/s and a 0.4 mm nozzle. A slower outer wall gives a cleaner color boundary and a better surface finish on vase mode prints.

Q4: How does the two tone boundary appear on the printed part?

A: The two colors sit side by side in the strand, so the boundary follows the extrusion path and the model geometry. Rotating the model or changing wall thickness changes how the two tones are distributed on the surface.

Q5: What is the difference between two tone dual color and tri color or gradient silk filament?
